International Forum for Democracy in Cuba in Costa Rica

The ICDC held an International Forum for Democracy in Cuba in the Costa Rican Parliament on November 16, 2004, which was organized by the Costa Rican Committee for Democracy in Cuba. Former Latin American presidents, politicians and activists from Cuban human rights organizations came together to discuss the importance of Latin America joining the fight for human rights in Cuba and to sign the San José Memorandum.

Participating ICDC members included Luis Alberto Lacalle, Luis Alberto Monge and Armando Calderon Sol. Exiled writer and intellectual Carlos Alberto Montaner also attended and Cuban opposition leader Bertha Antúnez Pernet and young political prisoner of Burma Min Ki Naing were awarded the Pedro Luis Boitel Liberty Prize.
