ICDC holds conference in Tallinn, Estonia

On October 13th and 14th, ICDC held a a conference entitled “Towards Democracy in Cuba” in Talinn, Estonia. The conference featured greeting letters from prominent Cuban dissidents, Vladimiro Roca and Oswaldo Paya, speeches given by MPs representing several European countries, as well as a broad range of the political spectrum, and the photo exhibition “It´s Our Problem Too: the Women of the Cuban Spring.”
Former Estonian Prime Minister Mart Laar, delivered the opening speech as well as a speech on the contrasts between the fall of totalitarianism in Central and Eastern in Europe, and in continuation in Cuba.
Swedish Social Democratic MP Kaj Nordquist spoke on the subject of support for the Democratic Opposition in Cuba. Lithhuanian MP Egidijus Vareikis and Czech MP Jiři Zlatuška spoke on the relevance of transition experience of Central and Eastern European countries to the Cuban experience.
