Ladies in White receive human rights prize

American NGO Human Rights First conceded its annual Human Rights prize to the Ladies in White, together with the Indonesian Suciwati Munir.
The ceremony took place on October 16th in New York at the organization’s headquarters. Since 1978, the organization has been promoting human rights in the United States and abroad. The Cuban government, however, didn’t allow the Ladies in White’s delegation to attend the event, failing to respond to their request to leave the country. The group has already received a number of other prizes, among them the Sakharov Prize for Freedom of Thought.
