Symbolic Jail Cell in Wenceslas Square

To mark the first anniversary of the imprisonment of the 75 Cuban prisoners of conscience, PIN organized a symbolic jail cell on Wenceslas Square in Prague March 15—18, 2004. During the 75 hours the event took place, former political prisoners, former dissidents, politicians, artists and many others took one-hour shifts as symbolical prisoners in the cell in order to express their support and solidarity with Cuban political prisoners.

The second anniversary was marked by yet another symbolic jail cell on Wenceslas Square in Prague. In 2005 the jail cell stood on the square March 18th and 19th and well-known personalities of the Czech society took part in the event alongside the general public.
